§ 10-6. Duties of director.
Under authority of the city council, the director shall enforce any and all regulations of this chapter in any and all parts of the city as is necessary to control the animal population and protect the health and safety of the citizens of the city. In furtherance thereof, the director shall:
(1)
Collect fees. Collect all fees set by resolution and printed in Appendix D to this Code, as necessary, to recover the costs incurred in enforcing the requirements of this chapter. The director may further collect all unpaid cost, fees, or charges incurred by the animal while in violation of this chapter.
(2)
Make inspections. Make all inspections required herein.
(3)
Capture and impound. Capture and impound, or cause to be captured or impounded, in the manner authorized by law, all animals within the city, which are in violation of this chapter. The director may trap, capture, shoot, tranquilize, or use any other means or methods he deems necessary and prudent to perform the duties imposed herein. Any person who has control or possession of any animal, and who is in violation of this chapter shall, upon demand, turn over such animal to the director.
